INTERVIEW WITH OSY IKHILE (Sol in the Jet Trash Movie)

Hi Osy 

Thanks for agreeing to answer some questions on Jet Trash and other stuff! Also thanks for being so patient with all the photos at the Jet Trash screening. 

Guess there must be worse jobs than filming in Goa when it's winter in the UK. How long was it between when you auditioned and you flying out to start filming? And did you have much rehearsal time?

I flew out about a month after I auditioned, we rehearsed on the beach it was dope!

Charlie said it would have been difficult to shoot the film if everyone hadn't got on so well. Do you still keep in touch with the cast and crew? And did you know any of them previous to being cast as Sol? 

I still talk to Jasper, Robbie and Sofia now and again, we all are busy and flying around for work all the time so sometimes its hard to stay in touch
I did not know anyone before I got the part, Met Robbie at the audition and Sofia and Jasper on the beach lol

As Goa is such a magical place did it seem more like a holiday than work? And would you like to go back? Or have you? 

My job never feels like work, it was my first time in Goa so when we weren't filming we had just as much fun as when we were filming it was great! Loved it so much I went back again with some mates like 6 months 

So Osy as Sol.. Do you think you're at all like your character in real life (Apart from the drug-dealing & stealing obviously) 

The only thing me and Sol share are a love for photography, apart from that we are nothing alike.

You can't get much more Indie than Jet Trash. You've also worked on big studio stuff like In the Heart of the Sea and Tarzan. Do you prefer one or the other? Or, like Rob, is it solely down to a gut feeling when you read the script? 

For me its all about the story, do I care about it, do I wanna be a part of it? Does the character speak to me? Etc 

Any funny memories from set apart from the ones involving Jeff the Cow? 

One of the Funniest things that happened on set looking back, is having to stop over and over and over again because of the wildlife that would casually stroll through the set, think they wanted a cameo! 

Would you like to work with Rob, Sofia, Jasper and Charlie again? And what would be your dream role?

I would love to work with any of those guys again! They are all dope individuals! I would love to play a superhero some day, I'm a huge comic book geek so that would be a dream come true!

It must be great to see Jet Trash unleashed on the wider world. How would you describe it in one sentence? 

Dope!

India changes you. Do you agree? 

No

Rob apparently got his fair share of injuries while filming. ,did you emerge scar-free? 

Yeah I was fine! Lol

We hear you've set up Itso Films. Can you tell us more about it? 

Itso Films is a production Company I started with my good friend and amazing actress Tahirah Sharif. Its a platform for creative collaborators that haven't quite got their foot in the door just yet. We want to help talented actors get their faces out there via online short films and sketch comedy.

What other projects have you got lined up that you can talk about or hint at?

I’ve got a few projects coming out cant really talk about em until they come out so keep an eye on my Instagram @itsosy

Since doing this interview it's been announced that Osy will appear in Charlie Brooker's acclaimed Black Mirror on Netflix. Awesome news!
