THREE SUMMERS Review

Hi! Been asked by the 'Hab as I think you call yourselves to do a quick review of Three Summers. Here we go but no spoilers is difficult!

THE FILM

Basically it's great! Feel-good Rom Com but with a lotta Aussie-based issues. The music and scenery are great and the script is SO funny!

The two main stars Rob and Rebecca are so good. From what little I know of Rob (before now anyway!) he's very funny in real life. Here he plays a bit of a know-all serious guy with two unusual jobs. Rebecca is his exact opposite. Full of fun and they shouldn't really get on. And they take their time but they do in the end. (Not too spoilery?)

The Aussie actors are great. Magda is hilarious as Queenie and Michael Caton is fun too!

You get music, scenery, two gorgeous leads and Aussie issues. What's not to like. Hope you all get to see it soon folks!

AFTER PARTY

Busy, fun and with a huge swarm of fans round Robert. God knows how many pics people have. He seemed to reduce most people to a gibbering wreck. Must be the eyes! Anyway he was happy to have multiple pics taken & Rebecca was lovely too.

Going to the Q and A today. Should be fun!

The Sheehab talks to Fortitude's Joi Johannsson

4/3/2017

In case you're suffering from Fortitude withdrawals we thought you might like some information on what it was like to work on the show - Joi Johannsson (Axel) agreed to answer our questions. Lots of info, insight and humour. Enjoy!

Some of the scenes, especially the ones with Robert Sheehan and Richard Dormer are very intense. Was it difficult to 'switch off' at the end of the day and forget about the programme?

No, not really, not for me. I was not leading the scene but they were. It is harder to be the driving force in scenes like that where the intensity has to be high and emotional level at a peak. That can drain you. But Robert & Richard are such professionals that they did this with ease. Both of them being very relaxed and laid-back lads!

If you hadn't played Axel which character would you like to have played?

I auditioned for Dan and was up for that at the time. Just did a film called 'The Deep' that was shortlisted for the Oscars and was contacted. However I lost out to Richard But I think Dan would be the part I would have wanted. NO GRUDGES THOUGH , Richard is terrific as Dan 😀

Did you take part in the Band with Dennis Quaid?

No sadly! At the hotel in Egilsstadir, Iceland the band was formed and was to perform at the wrap party and I was a member then. But I could not make it to the wrap party so I was fired from the band. But I am having a great solo career!

What was your most amusing moment on or off set?

There was always fun with Bjorn Hlynur! We are old friends and also related. We always have a lot of fun. Rune Temte is fun as well (I have to say that because I know he will read this) Hi Rune, Love U! But one moment doesn't pop out!

Do you prefer acting on TV or in films?

Today the difference is not great. Not the process of it. But I would love a part in a great TV show that I can develop and grow with. However, the intensity and joy of doing a film is always intriguing as well. It is always the part and project not the method.

How long were you involved in filming?

First I was booked for one week in Iceland. I ended up being two weeks in Iceland and four in London. I expect to be one of the leads in Season 3!

What was a particular problem with working in Iceland ?

Weather! Snowstorms mainly. A few days the blinding storms delayed shooting. But if you don't like the weather in Iceland, just wait a minute.

Were you surprised how well received the  show has been?

Not really! The show is brilliantly written and composed. Simon Donald is a genius! Even though it is too gory for some, the authenticity of it and the realness is mesmerising.

Did you get a chance to watch it before it appeared on TV?

Yes at a screening in London, and then at the premiere in London. I  I also got links.

Was it difficult working with different directors for different programmes?

No not at all. All the directors were such fabulous human beings, different in their style and approach. But all so talented and professional. You knew you were in good hands.

We love the photo of you, Richard Dormer, Robert & Dennis Quaid. Did everyone get on
well on set?

Yes, great atmosphere. Robert is such fun .I wish I had more days with him. He is now working with my friend Hera Hilmarsdottir  (In Mortal Engines) But everyone was really nice and welcoming. There is a family feeling to the crew and cast. Much love and respect!

If you met one of the characters in real life who would you be most afraid of?

Axel Fersen for sure, behind the innocent smile hides a monster !!

We'd like to thank Joi for answering the questions in such detail and with great humour!
