THREE SUMMERS Review

Hi! Been asked by the 'Hab as I think you call yourselves to do a quick review of Three Summers. Here we go but no spoilers is difficult!

THE FILM

Basically it's great! Feel-good Rom Com but with a lotta Aussie-based issues. The music and scenery are great and the script is SO funny!

The two main stars Rob and Rebecca are so good. From what little I know of Rob (before now anyway!) he's very funny in real life. Here he plays a bit of a know-all serious guy with two unusual jobs. Rebecca is his exact opposite. Full of fun and they shouldn't really get on. And they take their time but they do in the end. (Not too spoilery?)

The Aussie actors are great. Magda is hilarious as Queenie and Michael Caton is fun too!

You get music, scenery, two gorgeous leads and Aussie issues. What's not to like. Hope you all get to see it soon folks!

AFTER PARTY

Busy, fun and with a huge swarm of fans round Robert. God knows how many pics people have. He seemed to reduce most people to a gibbering wreck. Must be the eyes! Anyway he was happy to have multiple pics taken & Rebecca was lovely too.

Going to the Q and A today. Should be fun!

Night people

Love from beautiful Melbourne.

We need to stop meeting like this....

"Do you reckon I could get away with wearing those?" Robbie contemplates while looking down at my fluorescent pink Doc Martins.  "Of course" I reply eagerly. The boy could pull off a plastic bin bag.
Striding in to the cinema, film festival tickets gripped in hand, fangirl radar on. The youngest journalist who had no idea what she was doing or where she was going. We're at the Jameson international film festival and half an hour in and we've come across something like this..

Looks legit i think to myself.I'm a little disappointed. I always thought the carpet would be longer.
However the disappointment doesn't linger for long. Swarms of photographers congregate; first one, then four, then seven, all huddling around this cardboard wall. Still no sign of Rob and Gren. I stand near the back rehearsing my hastily put together questions and trying to get my minuscule Cannon camera to cooperate. Low battery. Oh no.
Everyone's got press passes and I've lost my sheet of questions. Numerous security and film festival volunteers ask me what I'm doing and tell me to move into the queue. I've almost completely forgotten about the film. Almost. I stand my ground and then a young woman makes her way to me. At first i think she's going to throw me out but when she thinks i'm credible enough she finds her colleague.
The woman brings me down to the end of the press line. Holy crap. She promises I'll get to have a chat with Gren and Robbie! I can't even at this stage.

I'm kicking myself over not having internet to get fan questions (sorry sheesters!) when he arrives. My fangirl radar rockets off the scales. I lean forward through the buzz and see a feather on his hat? OHMYGOD HE'S WEARING A FEDORA. Well it looks like one. OHMYGOD.
Over a year and a half later and we're standing in the same building again. He's just across the room standing diagonally away from me. Soulmates.

But then Gren pops out of nowhere and she's right there. My head is spinning. She looks even more fab in person wearing a salmon pink ruffled blouse and a grey tail coat not unlike what Rob's wearing. As in the tail coat not the blouse.
After answering official journalist questions she slides up to me and i introduce myself. She remembers straight away who i am and that I'm representing The Sheehab. WHAT IS LIFE??!
*Keep scrolling!*

So here's the Q'S:

R: What advice would you give to upcoming female directors, writers and actresses in the industry?
Don't take no for an answer. Don't even hear the word no. I don't; if somebody says it i go well how can i turn this into a yes. People are looking for your point of view and your voice and they will pay for that. Also don't ever delete it. I've heard stories where people did what other people wanted and ruined it. We were all given a very specific point of view on how we see the world so stay true to that".
R: What was the atmosphere like on set? Any inside stories?
We had so much fun. Our gag reel is 12 minutes long they're normally three. Because the subject matter was so sensitive and delicate we had to let go when i yelled cut. There's a lot of things with Robbie being very very silly, and very funny. An interesting thing is in all of the driving scenes that you'll see in the film I'm actually hidden inside the car, most of the time behind the driver's seat, crouched down watching the monitor because we didn't have money for the trailer rig and stuff so a couple of times i was laying behind them on the seat, I mean it was just crazy. I'm hidden, so it's like a find Gren sort of thing".
R: When you first saw Robbie act as Vincent did you immediately know he was the right person for the job?
I knew when he walked in the room even before he was Vincent.I knew his previous work from Love/Hate and Misfits. He was exactly what i was looking for. He had the height, he had the lankiness, because i wanted Vincent to have a poetry to his ticks and that would only happen if someone was tall and lanky. He had the hair, the eyes, the lips i could go on and on... but in the end the talent".

Then came Robbie...

I had been stood waiting and listening in to all the other interviews and my nerves were increasingly growing. Robbie was like an hyper active kitten: hands flailing, tilting side to side, his eyes alive with joy. He always has a story to tell.
He was incredible as per usual! OHMYGOD.  Watch our brief encounter here >>> https://youtu.be/Iff5-6JrFaE

After that it was onto the film which was equally incredible. One of my fave films now alongside Killing Bono.
I feel like it's the type of film i could easily watch with my friends and my grandparents. It had the perfect mixture of comedy and tragedy and let's just say the ending will leave you wanting more. Acting wise,  one of Robbie's best performances yet.
Picture
A slightly filtered, almost black and white picture. You can't see in the photo but there was actually a barrier in between Rob and I that snapped mid pic. Our love has no boundaries.

When it was over they're was a surprise Q&A (a surprise to me anyway) with Rob and Gren. I have to say i can't remember much of what was said because i was still in shock. Here's some pics....
Then i ended up meeting Bren and Rob in the popcorn area of the cinema, why does this keep happening?? God bless you Brendan.
Picture
All in all I'm still trying to process what happened, if you're reading this Gren or any of the sheehans, thank you so much for taking your time out and talking to me and  The hab!
Also how cute is the pic below!!!

Until next time folks,
